Congress Extends Paycheck Protection Program

The House and Senate were both in session this week with each chamber considering defense policy bills. The Senate considered the FY 21 defense authorization bill and the House Armed Services Committee considered its version; many construction provisions are included in both bills concerning change orders, bid listing, prompt payment, etc. The House passed its $1.5 trillion infrastructure package (INVEST Act), which includes $494 billion for surface transportation in addition to authorizing funding for broadband, schools and affordable housing.

The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the AGC-backed Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act (H.R. 7010), which would make substantial improvements to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Now, the Senate must take action and pass this important legislation to save construction jobs.

CEA Joins Over 1,000 Stakeholders for Cadillac Tax Repeal

CEA recently signed-in to a broad stakeholder letter to repeal the “Cadillac Tax.” We are looking to fully repeal the “Cadillac Tax” by the end of the year. These signatures represent large corporations and small companies, nonprofits, labor unions, cancer and patient groups, and state/local groups who share the concern that the “Cadillac Tax” is forcing them to increase deductibles and cut health care at rates that hurt workers and their families leaving them vulnerable to untenable health care costs.
