Executive Promotions at Shook Construction

Body

Chief Executive Officer at Shook Construction was proud and pleased to announce a series of executive promotions that will put in place the next generation of leadership for Shook Construction Co. These moves, which will become effective January 1, 2014, have been carefully thought out and are a result of our ongoing succession and continuity planning efforts. They will ensure that we can continue to provide our clients high quality and value long into the future.

First, I will be transitioning from my current role as CEO to that of Chairman of the Board of Directors. I’m grateful that the Board will allow me to continue to serve and become more involved in our company’s strategic planning and leadership development initiatives. After 40 years of service, I also look forward to enjoying a more flexible work schedule.

In a second major change, Bill Whistler will assume the new role of President and CEO. He has been with the company since 1978, having started, like me, as a co-op from the University of Cincinnati. In his new role, Bill will lead day-to-day operations; support the leaders of Shook’s business segments; and manage relationships with our banking, bonding and insurance partners as well as key business partners like you.

In addition:

  • Vice President Chris Halapy, who has enjoyed a 17-year long career with Shook, will be promoted to Executive Vice President, where he will support the company’s Education, Healthcare, Mission Critical, and Industrial business segment leaders in completing work under contract and growing market share. His base of operations is the company’s Cleveland office.
  • Tim Myers, in his current role as Executive Vice President of the company’s Water Resources business unit, will mentor Halapy as a peer during the transition period and beyond.
  • After a 40-year career in the industry, the last 27 of them with Shook, Mike Eckley, currently Vice President of the Education business segment, will transition to the role of Special Advisor to Chris Halapy.
  • In response to market changes, Shook will realign the Healthcare and Education business segments under the leadership of Andy Goetz, who began his career with the company in 1996. He currently serves as Vice president of the Healthcare business segment across Shook’s territories. The company will also realign the Industrial and Mission Critical market channels (data centers and telecommunications) under the leadership of Chuck Peabody, a 26-year Shook employee who currently serves as Vice President of the Industrial business segment. Chuck, based out of our Indianapolis office, will receive support from Mike Schmidlin, a 35-year company veteran who currently serves as Vice President of the Mission Critical business segment.

Shook Construction is excited about the career growth we’re able to offer to our high-caliber, younger professionals through our ongoing succession planning efforts.
