Michael Bruder, architect and Executive Director of Facilities Planning and Operations at Kent State, was the guest of honor for the event. Before kicking off his engaging presentation Michael was introduced by Javon Miller, an ACE Scholarship recipient, and current Kent State student. Javon shared stories of his experiences at school and his continued professional development. In part, Javon attributed his successes in school and professional development to the experiences  he gained within the ACE program, which continues to help support his continued growth.

The luncheon program, Gateway to a Distinctive Kent State, presented by Mr. Bruder, gave an overview of the Kent State University Facilities Master Plan and the Phase I Implementation currently taking place. Prior to the implementation of the new plan, the Kent State Master Plan had not been updated for 20 years. The new Facilities Master Plan supports a multi-billion dollar facility improvement, with some of the work taking place currently, and many other phases continuing into the future.

One of the major transformations to the Kent State University campus will include the reinvention of the signature gateway, creating an iconic front campus supporting the university’s commitment to innovation, campus life, and connections. To the benefit of all attendees, Mr. Bruder outlined the plan in its entirety and highlighted the exciting new construction and renovation projects that will come to bid as the plan progresses.

The ACE Luncheon is an annual event that raises funds for the continued work of the ACE Mentor Program of Cleveland. Thank you to all who attended, your engagement at ACE events directly supports students pursuing careers in the architecture, engineering and construction fields.
